Do them in order. Nothing here needs administrator rights, and
nothing is left half-installed if you stop partway — you can pick up
again at any point.

Double-click setup-langtechdepot.bat
Do it right there in the zip window, and leave that window open until
the installer has finished. A black window opens and does the work. When
it asks for your token,
paste it in — right-click inside the window, or press
Ctrl+V — and press
Enter.
If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”:
click More info, then Run anyway. That
warning appears for anything downloaded from the internet that has not
been through Microsoft’s paid signing programme.
If it says it could not get Syncthing:
this machine has no
winget, or winget could not reach the
internet. Download Syncthing for Windows from
syncthing.net/downloads
(the 64-bit archive) and take
syncthing.exe out of it. Then
unzip the LangTechDepot download — right-click it →
Extract All →
Extract — put
syncthing.exe in the folder that opens, beside
setup-langtechdepot.bat, and double-click the
.bat there.

Pick the folders you want
First the installer asks where to keep your LangTechDepot
Assets — the folders of files that come from the
depot. Click OK for the suggested place,
C:\Users\you\LangTechDepot\Assets, or pick another drive,
such as an external disk or a USB disk you carry.
Then, within a minute or two, a window lists every folder on offer,
with its size and a line saying what is in it. Tick the ones you want and
click Apply. With the keyboard: ↓
and ↑ move through the list, Space
ticks or unticks, and Enter applies.
Anything left unticked is set aside, and Syncthing stops
offering it. That is not permanent: double-click Change my Assets
in your LangTechDepot folder (or run the installer again) and the list
comes back, with Also display ignored folders
to bring back anything you passed over.
Not sure which? Each folder is named for the part of the
library it carries, and its description says who it is for. If you are
not sure, scroll right down to the bottom of the list and tick
Win_everything_en — Windows programs, everything,
less some large folders. Mind the size column if your connection is
slow.
Seeing only a few? The library is still being moved onto
this system a folder at a time, so not all of it is on offer yet. You do
not need to register again — when more have arrived, double-click
Change my Assets and the new ones will be in the list.
That is the whole setup. Syncthing starts with your computer from now on
and keeps those folders current by itself. The folders only ever receive
— nothing on your machine is sent anywhere.
Afterwards, everything is in one place for everyone. Open
File Explorer, and under Quick access
double-click LangTechDepot. Inside it:
- Assets — the folders of files coming from the
depot. Double-click it to see them. (If you chose somewhere else for
them, this is a shortcut that takes you there.)
- Change my Assets — opens the list again, to
add folders, take back ones you ignored, or stop ones you no longer
need.
- Am I up-to-date, and advanced management —
opens the Syncthing page (usually
localhost:8384) in your browser.
When every folder there says Up to Date, you have
everything. Check it before you travel.
- READ-ME.txt — all of this, for later.
